fairly regularly.
But the blog was denied.

Although, with the passing of this year,
I think I have fianlly learnt to manage my time in a semi-efficient manner. Mostly. Maybe. Kinda.

Done with a classic Hero fountain pen. No: #330 to be exact.
I just love the heck out of drawing with this pen.
Colour doen digitally. Not my strong point though...

Anwyays. felt like drawing a Thor before work in the morn.
Made his hammer handle longer too... just to see how it wud look.Mixed afew of the garments THor has had over the years. May have overdid it with the chainmail.And when i say THOR, i mean Marvel's superhero God character THOR. Not our legend Thor.

A friend of mine got furious seeing the Thor movie (which I loved, n cant wait for Avengers) and asked me where the Norse God of Thor was in the film. It wasnt about THAT THor (who is public domain, by the way). it was abt Marvels.

Same way Alan Moores League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is abtt public domain characters like Capt.Nemo n Mr.Hyde.etc. Maybe these character never have and or never will do these things. Yet, these archetypes are so powerful in a story, that using them is a celebration and another take on the character. It does not tarnish the original since, they arent technically the same person.

PS: the tiny winged hat was for my amusement. :)

It is no secret that i recently have loved using a combination ink n brush or watercolor with a Hero fountain pen. This was done with watercolour and Hero.

The strip without captions intended, is about an older man telling a kid how they used to get milk in the old days. Below is a enlarged panel of him. With the ink pen, I love to draw beards. its so much fun and far more interesting than a blank face.

You know what? Im gonna grow my beard back.

These were 2 pieces with ink,brush and watercolour, after which i went opver them with my ever-eager Hero ink pen. seriously love the feeling of drawing the a Hero. Even though its a writing tool.

Both these pieces were done without preplanning so I while I was paining in the washes, I was making ti up as I went along. Such is the ssituation after coming back from a day of work Procrastinating and then finding a spare moment before crashing to do "art". ppft. I sicken me.

Casey, from Nick Spencer and Joe Eisma's hit "new" (11 issues are out,as far as I know) series "Morning Glories". Beautiful covers by Rodin Esquejo

This is one of the few series that keep my interest and attention consistently, other than Ult.Spidey and Jonah Hill's Locke and Key. Plus, its a compelling read even if you aren't into comics.

Process shots: First a rough sketch on paper(just to get a mental image), digital line art, then black areas, and mild shading, Finally, colouring,(which is not my strong point).

The Purple Man is a villain from the pages of Marvel. Due to his purple auro (which he recieved in an accident), people are easily influenced by him. He may seem funny but the character himself is not a very comical fellow.

Ive always liked (i.e. liked to HATE) this guy since I read Daredevil:Yellow. He is a bastard. And despite his fictional power set, is VERY realistic in his usage of them.

With the DC (soft) reboot coming up, the inner-DC is jsut pouring out of me whenever I do some recreational sketching...Which is exactly what DC wants, I guess.

This was another one of my"DC Quickies" as I like to call them (starting, now).
Below the illustration,, is oen fo just the tones of the pic. I thought it looked nice, so, yeah.

Maybe it's time to not do DC stuff anymore, I think. But, jsut coz I wont draw the icons of Supes, bats and Wonderwoman (I call her by her full name coz I dont really know her that well.Plus, shes a princess), doesnt mean I have to give up this style of drawing. I have so much fun this way, and its not even refined yet. But we will get there. This happened, probably due to the fact that my fav DC art is done by Darwyn Cooke and Tim Sale. God. They are amazing....

Thats a title I never thought I would write. It sounds nice.

Theres a little pizza place that has a big post of the colliseum on thier wall. Their pizza is tasty, but over-priced. Im not going there again. (Unless you are paying).

With the DC relaunch in one of the titles, Supes appears to be young, and wears a tee and jeans, with a short cape. I would normally be skeptical, but with Morrison writing it, I am hopeful, more or less.

Another quick 5-minute DC PS sketch.This was almost at the top of Batman's "TO-DO" list before DC does its weird preboot.So he wanted to cleen Supes clock, before DC cleaned theirs.

Also, on a sidenote, Ive been feeling guilty about somthing:
As a fan,maybe I should be unhappy that the classic costume/uniforms of the heroes changed...
but as a normal human being, I'm wondering if its wrong to feel happy that these grown men aren't wearing underpants outside thier tights/spandex/pants.

Alot of conflicting emotions regarding this...

To have a flourishing career in journalism in the DC universe, you need your own, personalized superhero guardian. (Honestly without him, LKois Lanes career would have been tragic).

I thought I would try doing a form simplified version of Supes and Lois Lane in the art style I'm currently comfortable with.

Oh, n I added pants, just to try n get in the spirit of the new DC Reboot, in which the new superman has undergone some wardrobe changes. His suit has lining (much liek batmans), and he does not wear the underoos outside his tights/pants (Neither does the new batman either). Jim Lee (and Geoff Johns), these icons are in your hands...

Somethign from a a small comic story thigny Im working on.
I wont put it up till I create a good ammount of pages, yet I couldnt help put the above 2 cropped panels up.
The unlettered frame was plain to leave room for bubbles but soon I realized it was too plain (for me anyways).

So I thought I'd remedy this by adding some intertwining bubbles. It turns out I like doign em, so I will do some more in the other pages.

I started work awhile back. N it is great. I feel all grown up n stuff.
Plus, since it is all creative dept. work I get to do fun stuff for work.
Although there are downsides to even good things.
For eg: I dont get time to do my own thing. N wen I do, I dont. You knwo wat i mean.
So I pulled my socks up and started working on this story.
Hope to finish it soon.

A quick piece of fan art for Sucker Punch.

I watched it recently, months after it came out.
N u know what, its not as "terrible" as people said it was.
Infact, all the stylized fighting, character designs n archetypes, and settings, all seemed very nice to look at and shot really well.
It was a treat, atleast visually to watch.Lets forget about the story, not because it is bad, but because its not the main strength of the movie.

Here I took liberties, especially with the samurai design above. I wanted to add alittle bit more red

Working with Illustrator again. It had been alittle while. I mean I had done minor logo work on it but nothing more recently. I thought I would find it hard, but surprisingly I felt at home.

Saw X-men First Class. 7/10 for me. But once you watch it you can see that the film was hurried. I mean it had a production schedule of 10 months. ONLY!

I enjoy it immensely NOW. but earlier I was focusing more on figuring out digital, since that was the "future" as they call it. It still may be. But currently tradition is my main focus.

I love the types of sweater/jackets that are brown-ish with the soft, fluffy white\cream collars.It used to be associated with the image of pilots along with aviator shades or with the image of bikers before black leather and dog collars came along. It reminds me of a simpler time.

On a side note, I must confess a problem I have:

Every time I see a woman crying on screen, whether it is in live-action, animation or whatever, I get this strong impulse to join her in the task of tear-shedding.

Hence, thought I would draw a girl crying in this one.

Normally crying or sadness is associated with the colour BLUE.

Thought I would try it with shades of red and pink to see if it would effect the mood.I think it has because, compared to this in blue, this looks more... aggressive.Like she is crying with anger or revenge on her mind.

Aww... don't cry.

Atleast she has her sweater to keep her warm.

BFF Comic!

I hate tooting my own horn (usually), but I happy to say that a 20 page comic I did recently (called "BFF"/ "B.F.F") won first place in a manga competition. I've made a site to view the comic, and that site is: BFF Comic Site.

Oddly enough, the last 1-2 pages seem to be missing from the competition site, so i suggest reading it from the other site.

Here is the cover and 3 pages from the comic. While the story is one that I loved, from the moment I fully formed it, the art is mediocre at best, in my opinion. The later pages are so hurried up and shoddy.

Story-wise I greatly believe that it gives enough room for a continuing tale/series.

Robots, Bowlers and Outer-space

In the future when the world is uninhabitable for humans, robots shall rule the earth. This we know ALMOST as a fact. The question is, will fashion still play a role in this robotic society. If it did, ofcourse, a suit, tie and bowler hat are definitely the way to go.

In the mean time, humans would have picked up their feet and headed into space so they can turn over a new leaf and make a new planet avoiding the same mistakes made the first time. Either that, or they are going to go enslave a new planet and do it ALL over again. You know how we keep making and watching movies about alien invasions? What if one day WE have to move from earth and invade a planet? Then WE would be the ALIENS. THAT would be messed up.

Inking, the old-fashioned way & more.

Usually after pencilling I usually scan the page and ink it digitally.

Recently I've been wanting to brush up my skills, the traditional way.

Here are some disjointed pages from my sketchbook:

The first one us more of a darker tone, where I depict a very order and secular-based society in which they worship the shape of the hexagon. Nah, I'm kidding. About the hexagons, I mean.

But. now that I'm rethinking it, the whole society of people that are dedicated towards the servitude of a polygon sounds oddly intriguing.

In the next one, tried using mostly thin lines without doing any fill.

The last, is a sort of cover to a germ of a story I had. As the name (not to mention the picture) indicates, this one has something to do with the V.T station in Mumbai. This one, I relied only on fills to mix it up abit.

I really missed working digitally to ink all these, mostly because of the advantage of being a bit to "Undo" something. But, also, it feels very rewarding and different working traditionally, so that's good too.

Oh, and last but not least, here are four pages of line-art for a story I was working on that should be done by the end of december/jan. It is a science-fiction story, and I chose to use an anime inspired art style for it. As for the inking, colouring/shades for these for pages, Im not really sure which way to go, but we will see:

Here are the two unlettered pages on something small I have been doing in my time-off from web-design. It's something that's just pure fun for me and I'm sort of letting it write itself. These uploads are unlettered because I wanted to upload all the lettered ones on later, since if I put just two it would be just a tiny snippet of the plot.

Regarding the colour format, I was playign around with the RGB and sRGB formats just seeing what I would get. I was going for the slightly flat, almost older style of colouring.It is much easier working in B/W, which I used to do frequently, letting just the line thinckenss and spaces indicate depth and shadow. greyscale and monochrome is slightly more difficult. But, pure unabashed COLOUR is something else entirely.

Pencilled out some more pages and doing the inking now. Working with a Pigma brush pen and a micron 0.2 for that. It is so wonderful to work with. Infact, at times I feel I'm not doing the tools justice. I recommend their range of brush pens. You will get addicted to using them and your line control improves in the process of doing so.

Will upload the rest of the pages once I get a respectable amount of them done.

While I have been busy learning web-design and action-scripting, college graduation draws nearer as ever moment passes. It would be really nice to go back to campus for a bit, though I am not usually one for ceremonies. Needless to say, I have no choice in the matter of going, but, I don't think I would have made a different choice even if I could anyway.

In my limited free time, I started drawing a new comic. It's not exactly Prehistoric (this weeks ill-friday topic) but it's all that my left over time, effort and attention can produce at the moment and I apologize for that.

a quick evening comic. Ah, sweet release.

here, I chose to use handwritten captions instead of the stock font I usually choose. I played around with the hand depictions based on the zoom level. It's not exactly working, and I like both styles, so I will try and make it work in future strips. Maybe I can merge both together. Who knows.

Also decided to not give fill to the hair (as opposed to what I've been doing recently), because I realized that if there is more than one character in the strip, it's disturbing to look at, with a majority of the panels being dominated by dark shapes. Hence, the change.

(Oh, here's a useless side-note: I think this is my fav strip title. Probably because it has "ninja" in it. It's kind of like Madonna's "Like a Virgin"... only with a Ninja.Oopsie. popculture referance in there. Or should I say "pulp fiction" referance. Yokay?)

Aaah. Of all the digi-pages I have or I am involved with, my deviantart page(s) are hogging most of the pixelated limelight...
This post(s) is long overdue... I had meant to post all these as seperate posts but never got down to it during the last 2 weeks. Oddly enough, I don't have any whiny alibis other than my afternoon web-design class, which I have been attending recently.

I hope to post some scans later too... because I've gone through 3 sketchbooks in as many weeks.

Drew this after watching both the Azumi movies consecutively, which are based on a manga series centered around the same character. This one is unfinished I think but I spent about 3 hours on this and that's sort of my "time-limit", so I put the pen down and... "handed in my paper", so to speak. I'm not some major fan of the series or anything, since I have not read the manga and also, the movies, although entertaining, are alittle predictable and clyched, nothing out of the standard examples of that genre.

Deep down I think I drew this because I just wanted to draw a girl with dual katanas. (although i think i drew the swords incorrect since they are too curvy here.

In this comic, I adopted my fav layout... the "long page with (mostly) floating text and art" ...(I don't have a name for it). I don't even know if this qualifies for a comic or a meme. I won't go into the thought behind this.. but let's just say I was feeling... fudgy, cuddly warm inside.

A Hulk and Spidey piece. Pure childish fun. I have read atleast 3 comic books where spider-man meets the hulk and tries to calm him down by saying something similar to the dialogue on top, and Hulk usually responds with two loving fists and a giant roar... but I wanted to give a variation to that scene. I mean, Hulk is still mad (since he usually is) but he is mad for a totally different reason here, which was fun.

My family and I recently went on a trip to Jaipur- Udaipur. During this trip we went to many museums and landmarks, and at everyone of these, my dad bought the audio guide, not trusting an actual human guide. The tour of each place took twice as long unfortunately, since my father, after listening to the audio guide, would repeat the same thing to us, as though he was OUR knowledgeable guide. Hehe.

Last but not least, this Soldier boy is based on a friend of mine from college who is an encyclopedia when it comes to info about weapons, military vehicles, and warfare projects and prototypes.

Will work more on my comics now since there is no better time like the present.

This was pencilled out awhile back, just after I played Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days, to be exact. Hence, the last panel is sort of justified.

My art doesn't do justice to this gag, which is sad 'coz I thought it was a rather humorous joke. Oh btw, doesn't Lynch (from the game) remind you of Jack Nicholson?

The second game was odd because, it just seemed like it was going on for the sake of it, but much after I had played it, I felt that it seemed like a very realistic approach too. Now I'm not sure if I like it. Visual treatment was amazing though.

I had watched this series awhile back, and since I had seen most of it as a stretch, I consider it as one big movie, rather than a series. The concepts, and ideas brought about in this show aren't things we haven't seen before, but, the way they are brought out definitely do deserve merit.

I have always loved this frame (overhead view of the dolls' sleeping pods). So I decided to illustrate it from scratch.

I made one of the dolls red, mostly to emphasize Eliza Dushku's character and the fact that she is "special". Also, the red doll + the odd shape formed by the negative shape of the pods form a sort of unbalenced structure that sort of irritates me... it's like it needs to be fixed or it's wrong or something like that.

On a side note, Dollhouse is a thought-provoking show with some good writing in it aswell. There are one or two episodes you could do without seeing but, it all just makes the character(s) more... textured. Despite having only two seasons, the show closes up the story very nicely.

Lara Croft, not just a Tomb Raider

A piece for "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light", Lady Croft's newest adventure, the first of which is not under the proud "Tomb Raider" banner. This seemed odd at first but once you see the gameplay you may be able to see why this was done. To separate two different games with very different looks but, with the same title character, changing the titles (slightly) seems to be the easiest way.

When I first saw a preview of the game I was a little skeptical about how good it would be, and the latent TR series fan within me was partially to blame for that as well. Just a week back though, a friend, got the game and I see it properly for the first time. It didn't rope me in the first few moments, honestly. But, later when the puzzles started seeming more intricate and theor was more things happening (and dying) on the screen I was a teensy bit enamored by it. It seemed like a very Diablo game.

I won't pretend to know much about the game, but I will start a campaign tonight and check it out. The reviews say that just about everything is good, except for the story and the online\Lan Co-op. Those are two very important elements for a game nowadays, and even WITHOUT those two, crucial features if the game gets an 8.5 rating average, that says something. Whether it means the reviewers were bribed or the gameplay is just THAT good, I will find out.

The Feeling Beneath the Surface

This was something I did when I came back for my diploma submission to college, but didnt have the wi-fi for awhile to upload it or to transfer it. The feeling mentioned above may not be brought out clear enough for everyone to get, but it is sincere, I swear. It's exactly how i was feeling the last 2 weeks. On the surface everything seems fine, work is done, graduation coming up. But beneath that, there is a loss of purpose. It's sort of like when you finish a really tough game which seemed to take forever to finish, and when you do finish it you realize the game life-span wasn't long enough. But, I suppose a good game leaves you wanting for something more.

After the dip completion I seem to have lost my drive for abit, but I think with alittle bit of powering through, I should be fine.In afew days I'm taking a trip with my family, and visit Jaipur, Banglore n afew other cities. I think that will renew my drive. Oh, and I have to get a job later in the year. I don't know whether to be excited that I will have some immediate purpose in my life again or be concerned that I am snailing away to become a replaceable cog in the system. I just can't wait.

This was based on a coincidental reunion we had with our batch mates from school. After so long, there are chances of these awkward silences, but they can be easily powered through with a swig from a glass of the "hot stuff".

Tried to time myself while doing this comic. It took an hour, including drawing thumbnails on paper and scanning them. I think I lose the time in panelling and dialogue. It's usually better to figure out where the speech bubbles go FIRST, I think. Attaching it to the frame (wherever necessary) seems nicer too look at most times. Since I was timing the whole thing, I took liberties with background and treatment. If you find the occasional smudge out of the panel, into the gutter, forgive me.

The thumbnail version of this is below. Seeing how rough it is will tell you how much I rushed it. Normally I like penning it out on paper aswell.

Mad Men-ish

Watching the 3rd season of Mad Men.
I love the way each episode is written and how the portray the characters and the times they live in.

Some might find the show to stale, and adult-ish to enjoy but, i disagree.

Still it isnt the type of show you can laugh, LAUGH at, or shake to the tune with. For THAT I recommend Glee. Lovely show that aswell.

I thought it was time for a new display pic\banner making spree. This is a part of my first attempt. Did a swanky profile inspired by Mad Men. Debating whether to add more characters, dressed and altered slightly to fit the Mad Men motif.

The last time I was making banners, my comp crashed, so I settled for the firs one I made. NOW, I'll take time to make a few variations. Maybe I'll do the next one with a little bit of "glee" in it.

My take on Kyle Rayner, (one of the) green lantern(s). Probably the most unpredictable GL, due to his creative drive as an artist.

Made this version of the GL logo too. I don't know if a pre-existing one like this exists though, chances are, it does.

I've always wondered whether the rings could make food. That way, world hunger would be childs play for a GL. In Frank Miller's DKR2, Hal Jordon is shown to have left earth and has created his own planet with creatures that he created to live with. He even changes his appearance and is married to one of these aliens and they have a child aswell. (So I suppose this illustration with Guy Gardner can be justified..)

Although I'm very attached to my version of Kyle Rayner, I think the Guy Gardner illustration came out better (content notwithstanding).

"The Auto Game"

this game can be played in almost any city in india where

auto-rickshaws (or "ricks" as some ppl call'em) are an available means of transport.

Usually in autos, the sides are decorated with a pair bollywood celebs pics. we used to play this quite abit at college. though not in so many words. usually it does happen in the first 3 panels.

but once in awhile u can milk a nice, long YET vague and meaningless conversation\argument that can end in either curses or tears. But before u know it, u are at ur destination.

The opinions voiced in this strip are mostly the characters opinions... n just teensy-weensy bit of mine aswell.

Will be uploading a small clip of my diploma film as soon as i can...

IF:"Double"

I would say: "CLICK the pic for a bigger view", BUT that would just be insulting you, since you already know what to do. (See? I did a little rhyme right there.I knew I should have chosen to be rapper. COUGH.)

A double conclusion it is. Sometimes panel 3 and 4 interchange.

This is based not just on whimsical thought but, on something adorable(panel 4) and entertainingly painful (panel3) that I saw the other day on campus.
I was only there for a week, and I sort of promised myself I would work on atleast 3 comics but insteas I did about 2, and one was still unfinished. So...boo-hoo.
It was really fun getting back to campus and meeting everyone again, even if it was just for a brief: "Oh. It's you." (a disappointing sigh following these words close behind) from everyone.
Coming back next month with a finished short film hopefully.

Maintenance mouse.

Awhile back, a friend and I took a trip to the office of a major television children's channel. After finishing the business we had to attend to, we started to leave. On our way out, we saw something. Something that sent chills down our very spines and to our nether regions.

It was a mouse, who was a maintenance man\ janitor at the building. The detail that he was a mouse is NOT the important part. The important part is WHO the mouse was.

The years had not been kind to him. His eyes that were once filled with a glow that could cheer anyone up was replaced by dark pits of endless hollowness. His tail that used to be so curvy and well hung in the air, was now shabby and lifelessly drooping onto the floor. His once famous, perpetual smile was gone, replaced by a scowl that showed that he was full of not just anger, but suffering as well.

As we passed him, we smelt cheap whiskey on his breath while grumbled in a grouchy manner about some girl named Anna or Hanna or something like that. He said she ruined his life.

We exited the building, walked a few paces, then stopped and thought about what we had seen. Simultaneously shuddering after a few seconds, we continued walking.

A crop. Just because.

A healthy breakfast. NOT.

Still, it's a pretty wonderful combo: toast+strawberry ice-cream. Separately they are two run-of-the-mill components, but put them together and you get an exotic and seductively forbidden dish. The chocolate flake on the top only makes it that much more... delectable.

As a child I used to wonder why some foods, like ice-cream or chocolate were limited to certain times of the day. Sometimes I still do.

Other than the facial hair and extra poundage, i've acquired something else during the time spent working on my project.

An ADDICTION. The most dangerous one of all: (you guessed it:) Caffeine. Although, saying it's the "most dangerous" might be pushing it. But, it is however, the most easiest. It's easiest, since a good cup'o'coffee is available ANYWHERE.

I've been drinking the stuff so frequently that my mug has developed it's own persona I have come to know and love as, well..."Muggy". (My naming skills seem a little off. I can't even think of a good english title for my film).

This is the production title under which I did my film.It is currently undergoing post-production.

This is the end title frame of the film.

The opening titles are much more different, and more... in motion.
It reads: "Koodumattam".
(Anyone who knows better, feel free to correct me, if I get anything wrong.I don't really brag of being well-versed in the language.)
"Kood-uh" can mean "home" or "house" (,also "nest" as someone, so adequately reminded me :) ). It can also mean "cage" (which fits right in with the theme of the film). "Mattam" is "change".

The English title however, is the much less uninspired: "THE MOVE".
It lacks the possible double-meaning connotations that it's Malayalam counterpart possesses.

Fashion Police

Originally this was going to be done in four panels; starting with this one, then moving on to a mall where they shop for new clothes and other... things. The art was supposed to be in a slightly realistic style. But, I wanted to try a different type of bubble and a new look for Jan (character on the left), so I did it in simple art.

I think the strip looks alright as a one shot. Anything I draw above 3 panels, usually looks like crap, unless it's ALOT more than 3. Although 3 is the perfect number to specify a begin, middle and end.

I will revisit the same strip in a different drawing style next.

IF:"Satellite" .AKA. "The Oracle"

The "Oracle" (of Batman lore), giving Nightwing satellite guidance over the rooftops.

I thought it fits with IF's topic and I could do a fan-piece as well.

She was once a batgirl so, if you look in the background, there is a costume in a showcase. She is also paralyzed from the waist down, so her partially cropped wheel chair is visible.
I added a laptop at the bottom of the frame just to show that she uses low\standard tech aswell (apart from the interactive holographic screens). Either that or, she has her iTune-playlist on.

Below are the 2 initial steps of this piece: lineart and rough-sketch.The whole process took 4 hours, but with alittle more time I think I can tidy it up properly. But not right now. Right now, Im going to sleep.Gud-bye!

This took a 3 hours, and 2 of those hours were line-art and b.g. I tried to be abit faster with my fill and shade. Not coz I wanted to finish it, but because I wanted to practice swiftness and 2 hours 30 minutes was my target. I exceeded by 30 minutes. I shall hang my head in shame.

To be honest this hasn't been cleaned up at all, but I guess you can get that impression from seeing it. Will experiment with the it. I've always loved making cluttered pages like this, but somebody usually tells me that it hurts their eyes, so will try and make it alittle more refined. Might digitally redraw the whole thing or add grey shades or something.

This is just something I did with acrylics for my sis's bag. It's a cartoon of her, wearing a "dead-cat-hat". Normally the paint dries quickly on bag cloth, but this particular bag was made of that plastic tessellation-mesh type cloth, so once the paint dries it chips,unless paint- hardening spray... which, I did not have.

Assassin's creed 2 characters: Lucy Stillman and Desmond Miles featured here. In the second one, in the background there is; Minerva (the goddess type being) and Ezio (Desmond's charming ancestor). I have made several small changes to Lucy and Desmond's attire and accessories just to give them a more "ready for battle" look, as opposed to their usual casual look from AC2. Even Minerva's god-like armor has been changed just... well... because. It's just my take on it.

After playing the game, I'm sure that they could make a good expansion of this story into the comic-book realm. There is news flying around of an AC comic centered around an Egyptian Assassin. Or is it a Japanese one in the feudal era? Either which way, it all sounds intriguing. I hope they still keep Desmond and Lucy as the main people though, who are seeing the story as Desmond re-lives his ancestors memories, but if this were the case, then he would have to have ancestors from drastically different places on the globe, which, to be honest is alittle tough to be convinced of.But, I can't wait to see what they do.

Other than afew small issues, the game is immensely engrossing and enjoyable, with a very good gameplay life-span (compared to its predecessor), lovely visuals, wonderful audio and a complicated, but decent story. The ending sort of paved a way to an upcoming battle, hopefully on a large scale set in the future AND the past, rather than just the latter.

What impressed most about this game is its GUTS. What they have done basically, is taken certain aspects of religion and said; "Actually, all that didn't happen. You were lied to."

It's one thing to "alter" history, but to do this to religion, is something unheard of, atleast in games.They even went to the extent of showing a brief but awesome video of Adam and Eve trying to escape from Eden(which has a very futuristic look). There is even a level where you infiltrate the Vatican and kill an evil pope! I wouldn't be surprised if the Vatican banned it. But it took testicles to tell the story they wanted to tell.

What i got from the glimpses of the past n the information we collect through the whole game is that: There was a race that came before humans, from an unknown origin and maybe even biologically engineered\created humans as workers\servants. Adam and Eve opposed the rule of these greater beings, and stole one of their many powerful relics (A.K.A: "Pieces of Eden"). With this artifact they fought their creators, and eventually we can assume that the human race was either freed OR annihilated. These powerful and dangerous Pieces of Eden are scattered throughout the world, and as time passes history is covered up.

Whew. Pretty heavy, eh? The 3rd installment of the franchise is releasing in November this year, which is pretty darn fast for a sequel. I think though, that it's coming out fast 'coz they are setting it in the same time-period as AC2, so that reduces the work for environments and character designs drastically. However, before thinking it is the same game with just another long story, check this out: there is MULTIPLAYER. That is just amazing, for such a game to be expanded into multiplayer. Plus new character animations, accompanied with new weapons and deadly ways to use them.

This one will definitely be worth getting. (Infact, that's a HUGE understatement).

One thing I didn't say though, is that the musical themes in AC2 was really good and suited the time period(s) and situations they were made for, but maybe they are alittle under-played.
One thing that makes a game even more sublime apart from story and graphics, is good music and sound. I think Ubisoft is on a role here, with a new game in the works: "Child of Eden". Despite the name, it has no relation to the AC story-line (I assume safely). Now this is a shooter that combines all these amazing, psychedelic visuals, with funky,trip-tastic music. check the trailer:

IF: "Ripple"(featuring the Petite Posies)

Lately, I can't fight the impulse to make comics. Petite Posies seems like something that can seriously work as a series, more than a single strip. I wanted to go for a more Enid Blyton's "Naughty Girl" meets "Madeline" , meets something...else, alittle more sinister (i dont know what exactly that is yet).

This story is actually something my sister went through and felt, when she was younger. The name "Petite Posies" is actually a play on a school; "Little Flower Convent School" that my mom went to as a child (my sis went there very briefly aswell). Speaking of my diabolical sister, here's one more comic featuring her:

"Don't eat where you..."

The movie in question here is Bollywood's recent release; Rakesh Roshan's "Kites", directed by Anurag Basu. The film stars Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori. Despite a big budget and beautiful shots, the plot is very basic, and the dialogue, even more so. The film summary: two lovers are running away from the police and leave a trail of destruction from Las Vegas to Mexico. And before you ask: it is shit. But thats just me, not mention half of my social spectrum. (The other half have opted not to see it)

The one good\bad\unique thing that can be said about this film is that it does not look like a Bollywood film. I recently found out that they were release a version of the film for world audiences, entitled: "Kites:the Remix" which is to be directed by Brett Ratner. Weird. They are even shooting extra footage for it and cutting out all the songs, making the film drastically shorter, and on the whole, alittle more tolerable for the rest of the world. Unless I'm totally wrong, this version will be shit aswell. Hope not though, because it's giving the rest of the countries an impression of an Indian venture into international cinema.

In the comic done in this post ,i was wondering whether to put a shade of grey to show how dark a movie theatre should generally look, but then the whole contrast between the B&W, aswell as the clean spaces in between are lost. Will try something different next time.

Oh, on a side-note; check out the film ; "Badmaa$h Company" (Bollywood). Its not half bad. If you can wave-by the wannabe vibe that's in the film, aswell as the childish swearing and odd lovey scenes, you may find afew things you will like about the film. It's worth a watch.

The Crew .AKA. Diploma Film Shoot

This is a drawing of my crew and I. We worked on a short fiction film I had written. The shooting was a very lovely, memorable and challenging experience which I shall never forget. I shall put up a breif walkthrough of the shoot on my blog as soon as I can.

The rockstar in the blue is Angith Bibu. The macho-man in the cream t-shirt is Monojit Bhowmick.The blue question mark is the INfamous Krishnarjun Bhattacharya.The yellow'n'green stripes, being harrased by the elephant trunk is our very own Pratik Ghosh.The bright yellow,jumping monkey-boy in the center is Vivek Prashanth, who is our a very talented young protagonist of the film. And last, the ugly brute in the green in yours truly, me. The elephant in the back isnt the one we used in the film (she didnt have tusks). Her name is Nandhini and there is a pic of her below:

These are the two main characters in the film: Vivek, the boy (played by Vivek) and Gobban the elephant keeper (played by Satyabalan,who is an actual elephant keeper!).They both did portrayed their roles well.
I wish I could upload more, but the crappy net at hoem won't let me. Once I get a decent connection, I shall definitely put up more.

I shall also post a basic process up on the blog soon.I made alot of stupid mistakes and I did alot dumb things, but atleast I can say that I learnt from them. Who knows, maybe it'll help another aspiring film-maker making a short fiction, who also has a reasonably small budget.

A friend told me that you can't joke about PMS unless you go through it. She might have been right.I don't know.

Still, I thought I would try.
This comic does not mirror my views though. Maybe years ago in school I would have reacted like this, now, (being adults) we should have more tolerance for stuff like this.
And maybe, just maybe, our tolerance should extend to even humour about this stuff as well.

Keep in mind, the objective of this strip is to draw attention to how amazingly daft some people are when it comes to topics like this. I realize that stating the goal in text, might reduce it's effect. But, it's worth it to avoid offending anybody needlessly.

"Spelunking Monthly" featuring Lara Croft

Ah, Lara Croft...How far we go back. I will spare you all the stroll down memory lane because lord knows how many times I've done THAT.
The top pic was done for a competition for a magazine cover which had to feature a famous character. I chose the first lady of relic hunting as the featured icon. I settled on naming the magazine "Spelunking-Monthly. If you read the articles you will find one about Lara's upcoming game which is called "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light". This is the first game which has Lara in it but,does not come under the "TOMB RAIDER" series. Also the whole game is in isometric view, so...whoopee. NOT. I don't want to bad-mouth something I haven't played yet, but I love the recent tomb raider games (and a fair amount of the old ones) and I am afraid the change might not be something good. Still, I hope it proves me wrong.

Also, other articles I put on the cover: One referring to Indiana Jones, and one about bungee cords.

This is a cartoon of two of the sweetest friends of mine from school; Mohit(left) and Deepthi (middle). The ugly galoot on the right is moi.

Deepthi's "war cry" back in school was always: "Hey People!".
Whenever she entered a room you would KNOW, since she used to almost SHOUT it and that too at slightly higher pitch.

Canvas + Acrylics

My first Acrylic on Canvas

Concept wise, I wanted to do one of a traveller in another world. This traveller just has the clothes on his back and his trusty "steed". The bird-creature here sort of resembles a chocobo from final fantasy, the differences being: this one has a double set of nostrils and has edible "fruits" growing from its dread-locks. Oh, and the bell and limbs among other things. The traveller, well I wanted that free, gypsy look, and I wanted to use blue skin for once without it being labelled as a religious and\or Avatar piece.

Slightly bigger than A3 size. The slick protective coating that the canvas had made the first coat of paint hard to apply. I found this piece very tough to do because of the size, and the medium (i had only 7 acrylic coulours with me). But definitely worth the 3 hours spent (couldnt bear to spend more time on it). Without an actual easle I even got a back pain and a leg cramp while I was bent over this. hehe

This is an incomplete canvas painting I was doing.
I did this with the left over paints from the first canvas painting I tried.I am such a dummy for not buying more paints.

Time did not permit me to finish since I have a ride to catch in the morning (back to college) and I cant stay up all night like usual.Will finish it the next time I come by the house.This piece was sort of composed while in the process of painting it. At first, the center piece was just the girl doign a flying kick, but it looked odd, so I added her companion;a masked fellow weilding a shotgun and a knife.

The villains for this caper however, were a constant cause of confusion for me. At first I thought the usual group of robot antagonists. Then i thought why not lizards or lizardmen... i dismissed the idea and I thought why not try lizard-robo-men. but that wud just be me trying too hard. I finally revisted the lizard idea but i made them pudgy and sort-of cute n goofy.

The final version of the grounding here will be a crack canyon type background. i didnt have any paints to distinguish between the sky and ground. So I added a fade of yellow strokes just to see wat wud happen. I will try to use this in some piece in the fiture where it is required.This was again a mistake. While drawing the two gun-totting explorers in a semi real style, I drew the lizards in another. I will try to not make the same mistake again.
Painting on canvas despite being difficult (for me) really made me feel... like an ARTIST. It was a nice feeling.

I'm going to have to explain this, clearly:

Sometimes when I have to do something hard, or something I think might not go as planned (i.e. basically,anything risky) I wish that an apocalyptic event would occur like a hurricane or a tidal wave or a zombie attack even. So when somebody asks: "Werent you supposed to do that "thing"?
I will say: "Oh, that was during the time of the "hurricane/tidal wave/zombie attack."

In this case what I am finding hard to do is my DIPloma project. I am currently doing the pre-production for the shoot which is in May. Wish me luck.

Recently started preproduction on doing my Dip (i.e.diploma) Project. I am shootiong a short fiction film in may for this proj, and with no help or facilities from college. And it is shite hard. really "wack-in-the-jewels" TOUGH.

I know I should be working all the time but all work n no play makes me.... hungry. So i did these. Dont tell anyone.

the character as i drew him again and again started becoming his own person.. infact he seems to have evolved since the beginning of the story.....either that or i suck with continuity. hehe.so i decided to alter the previous pages to match his monky-ish looks here.

I thought I would draw Wurmler and Slink alittle different , but I prefer the original anyday compared to my misshapen Conan-wanabe version.hehe. I didnt get to draw Wurmlers "Dragon Tongue" sword either, since this was a more contemplative\chillout\ "staring into the sunset" piece.

Loved the characters and backstory. I heard there is a sequel but havent heard anythign else about it. These characters have so much potential for a series aswell. I hope they do have one in the future.

I recently got to read Flight Volume 3. I agree it was abit late, but this book is exactly wat i needed at the time. I fell in love with each and every storya nd every writers/creators style was as fresh as the ones post and prior.

An Ïnfinity Scope"Prequel

Pages I was doing for fun. Caotions, titles and lettering to be done.. A prequel to the "Infinity Scope"comic a friend and I had thought of. I was thinking this story would be a good introduction to the world(s) we are tryign to create.Art is kept pretty basic for continuity's sake and for my benefit since i have a buttload of stuff on my plate.By the end of two weeks though, I should close this story in a span of about 5 to 8 more pages.

Im heading to the location of my future shoot to arrange all the neccessities to make a short, independant film. Cast also will be arranged in this time. I dont know how long i take but Im betting that the better part of a half a month will pass before i come back HERE. Who knows? maybe everything will work out for the better.... FASTER. Heres praying.

When the stars and planets allign with one another and time stands still and gravity is reversed, then one gets the oppurtunity to have that amazing, all-sin cleansing, glorious BATH. The other occasions where none of those things happen however, one usually relies on deo. Deo may be a back-up but it is NO substitute as some people forget. Afew characters look really funny while spraying it on aswell. It's like their doing a primal dance step and seeing how fast they do it. Don't get me started on where they spray it (seen in above comic)!

Had made this a long while ago, founf it yesterday and thought i would upload it. I think the reason I hadn't uploaded it before was that I thought this humour might be distasteful to some. Now that I think about it, it's absurd. There are far more juvenile examples of "distastful humour" on the internet.

Here is another piece I did for our college D.A group. The topic was "Self Portrait" and the constraint: Atleast half an animal should be present in the piece. The "HALF an animal" brough some pretty disturbing thoughts into my mind, half of which i am not very proud of.

In the end I chose to be a faun for 2 reasons:
1. Whenever u are walking on a wooden surface, it spunds like you are tap-dancing (coz of the hooves)
2. When you head-butt someone, it really, REALLY hurts

This is a channel ident I did during my summer of internship at Mtv about a year ago. The basic work took a day and the second day i spent on the audio with the help of a very telented in-house sound engineer (for the record: his name was Pramod).

This is a short ident for a hypothetical studio\production house. The audio is still yet to be done and Im sure once it is, it will add that extra "kick" required.

"Seppuku" (i.e. "stomach-cutting") is a form of Japanese ritual suicide by disembowelment.

This scene (AKA. "The shower scene") is a classic example of the fear that slasher flicks bring out. Thought I would try and illustrate this immortal moment in Alfred Hitchcock's film.Decided to stick to black and white\grays since the movie is in B\W.

For the past few years I've always felt this genre of film had gone subterranean. I, myself am not a big horror fan, and didn't take it seriously, at first. But, I have plenty of friends who are. They have taught me that the horror category isn't disintegrating. It has a very strong following, and is getting stronger with each passing year. I've have grown to respect this type of movie, but importantly, grown to fear them.

The title says it all....

The first video here is a short fiction film a group of us made for a course we had ages ago.It is in hindi and the title is "Vadhik".

The second video is one that I do NOT own. I don't know if I could use it.But I had to save it so I could watch over and over. It is a webisode of the U.S show "The Office" (which introspectively focuses on the lives of office workers in a mockumentary-ish fashion), in which they perform a very nice musical number. The bands name is "Subtle Sexuality" ( I know, I know). And the single/track name is "Male Prima Donna". It pretty good. And hilarious. I wish that stuff like this ends up in the mainstream more.And it IS good enough to be in the mainstream. A new genre of Humorous Music, other than Weird Al Yankovic(and in a few rap numbers).Enjoy.

IF: "Brave" A.K.A. 2100

Be brave for the future, puny human for in the year 2100, chickens reveal themselves to be an alien species that had come to earth many,many years ago, and had suffered from some mental-wipe due to the composition of earth air. Now, upon the return of their mother-ship, they have inherited their race's superior intellect and will make the planet and it's inhabitants pay for looking down on them for far too long.

Oh, and those vials are filled with glowy DNA strands, in case you were wondering. The chickens are preserving the DNA of most of the creatures on earth(after destroying them), so they aren't TOTAL monsters.

Thought I would post the line art aswell to show the process.

Puppy Love

Dexter: "The Code of Harry"

Dexter is a serial killer who was trained to kill murderers by his foster father, Harry. The rules he was taught are referred to as "The Code of Harry".

(That's Dexter in the foreground enjoying his work, while Harry is in the background hanging over him as a constant guiding force).

The character is from a series of books by Jeff Lindsay, of which a TV series is adapted from.

I have not read the books, but after watching a few episodes of the television show, I am extremely tempted to buy it. The series is very introspective into the human psyche and it makes one question what is right, wrong, and black and white. Other than the focus on the gray area of human morality, it also makes references to urban culture.
